Chairman/Director - Mary Hopkins

Creativity is in the bones of founder and Chairman of Hopkins Communications, Mary Hopkins, who set up the company in 1990 with a yen to create a sustainable business to be proud of.

Mary's local Cork knowledge is second to none – she is a member of the PRII, Network, and the Marketing Institute, on the Board of Cork City Enterprise Board, involved in several Chamber of Commerce committees, and was also proudly appointed to the Governing Body of University College, Cork.

Managing Director - Mark Hopkins

Mark took over as Managing Director of Hopkins Communications in 2005, and has since introduced a range of new products and services to clients, proffering fresh ideas covering all media, including press, radio, outdoor, ambient, on-line, traditional and non-traditional.

Mark has successfully built strong relationships with all media outlets and suppliers in the media industry in Ireland and in the UK, commanding and demanding excellent rates for our clients in press, print, broadcast and outdoor media etc.

Mark handles the media buying aspect of our projects and can implement any advertising campaign planned. Mark has a Degree in Science (BSc) from University College Cork, and previous experience with Golden Pages, Pfizer Ireland as a Medical Representative.

Director (Sales) - Donogh O'Herlihy

Donogh joined Hopkins Communications in March 2007 and has over 10 years experience at a sales and marketing level – having previously worked for very strong national and international brands including Goodfellas Pizza & Donegale Catch within Green Isle Foods, as well as cutting his teeth in the media world with Cork’s 96FM (Ireland’s largest local radio station). 

Strategic media buying and strong rate negotiation would form the core of his role - providing cost effective Media Plans that deliver instant results. An extensive knowledge of local, national and international media allows Donogh to best advise clients on how to gain their unfair share of the market – specialising in Press, radio, TV, print and outdoor opportunities. 

Donogh has an honours degree in Commerce (BComm), with a major in marketing & management from University College Cork,

Director (Digital) - Judy Hopkins

Judy Hopkins, Director (Digital) joined the family business in January 2010 with a brief to expand the online and new media offering and work in the PR division. 

Judy has international online, agency and in-house experience from high-tech, IT and digital media sectors. Judy is also experienced in both national and international marketing, public relations and event management. 

Judy holds a Higher Diploma (level 8) in Public Relations, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Marketing and Languages, a Diploma in Online Marketing and a Business and French Diploma from the Sorbonne and Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Paris.

Judy is a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland (MII), Network Cork, the Irish Internet Association (IIA) and the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI).

Director (PR) - Niamh Sullivan

Niamh originally joined Hopkins Communications in 2004 and worked with the team for almost four years before going off to gain national and international experience and she rejoined the company earlier this year as Director of PR.

Niamh’s primary areas of expertise after 9 years in the industry are in consumer, corporate and entertainment PR and social media, but she also oversees and manages the overall marketing strategy for her clients from event management to website development, promotions, experiential activity and branding.

Over the years Niamh has worked with top agencies in Dublin, Cork and Waterford, she was with Michael Flatley for a number of years, and she also gained international experience working on projects in the USA, UK, New Zealand and Australia. 

Niamh has managed campaigns for some of Ireland’s leading brands and companies including Corona, RTÉ, Fáilte Ireland, Westport House & Pirate Adventure Park,The Nightmare Realm, Denny, Breakthrough Cancer Research, Independent News & Media, Dove, Tayto, Mazda, Brennans Bread, Travelodge, KBC Bank and J&J to name a few. 

Niamh comes from a strong academic background with a first class honours in English and History from UCC and a HDip in PR, she is a member of a number of marketing bodies and has also won several national and international PR and marketing awards, particularly in the travel and consumer sectors.

Senior Graphic Designer - Sheila McGoey

Sheila joined Hopkins Communications in 2010, before which she worked with Universal Graphics in Monaghan, Southern Advertising in Limerick and Snap Printing in Dublin.

Sheila has worked and continues to work with clients including Corona, Co-Op SuperStores, Aer Rianta, Evening Echo, Dell, Chorus, Skynet Airlines, Limerick City & County Councils, Golden Vale, Fitzpatrick Hotels. Musgraves, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, 4Homes, Fernhill Stone, HSE, Expert Electrical, OneForAll, Roberts & Roberts.

Hailing from Longford, Sheila moved to Cork to study Design for Printing (Nat. Diploma) in C.I.T, and always knew she’d return to Cork one day.

Account Executive - Agata Goraus

Agata joined Hopkins Communications in 2007 as an Account Executive and has been an integral part of the team since then. Agata works on a number of advertising accounts, manages customer service enquiries and provides admin support to the PR, digital and accounting teams.

Agata previously lived in The Netherlands where she studied Media & Entertainment Management in NHTV University in Breda for four years, which gave her a flare for creativity as she specialised in media production.

Before that, Agata worked in Poland as an Account Executive for a promotional and advertising agency where she managed the advertorial team writing for Gazeta Wyborcza, the second-largest daily newspaper in Poland. Agata speaks English, Polish and Dutch, which is very useful when liaising with international publications and groups in Ireland.

Account Executive - Kathleen Harrington

Kathleen works across PR, digital and advertising and manages experiential campaigns, roadshows and promotions for some of the agencies top brands including The Irish Times, Mahon Point, Corona Extra, Jagermeister, Pot Noodle, Ultralase, Aviva Healthcare, Miller Genuine Draft, Diet Coke, Independent News & Media, and St Luke’s Home. 

Kathleen's creative ideas and savvy business and practical skills make her an asset to the team.  Kathleen graduated from Cork's Institute of Technology with a Bachelor Business (Hons) Degree in June 2007 and has since gone on to complete her Higher Diploma in Arts in Public Relations in 2011. 

Account Executive - Clair Collins

Clair joined Hopkins Communications in January 2011 on work placement. After demonstrating her creative flair, hunger for keeping up with the latest industry trends and penchant for public relations and marketing in general, Clair was offered a position to provide account executive support to the team.

Prior to joining Hopkins, Clair developed her journalistic skills and knowledge of the media industry whilst on work experience with a local newspaper and marketing company. She has a broad range of professional experience, having also enjoyed a successful career as an Archaeologist before her love of travel led her to work with Irish and European aviation magnate Ryanair.

Clair has worked with clients including SHARE, Brídhaven Nursing Home, GrabOne, The River Lee Hotel, Dornan Engineering, Career Decisions and Killarney SummerFest and is our 'go to' girl for research and brainstorming.

Partnership (Kerry) - John O'Mahony

John O'Mahony has been involved in the media for over 25 years and enjoys a successful career as a journalist, publisher and public relations consultant. He has vast experience of the local, national and international newspaper industry and continues to write extensively for Irish daily and Sunday newspapers as well as several overseas publications and magazines. 

A native of Killarney, John was managing editor of The Kingdom newspaper for 11 years during which time the publication scooped several major national awards for quality journalism. During his tenure the newspaper also established a reputation as one of the best publications in the country for training young journalists and a number of the top reporters in Ireland learned their skills from John. 

O'Mahony Media, based in Fossa, Killarney, specialises in press, public relations and publishing in addition to practical media training, copywriting and event management.

Partnership (Dublin) - Walter Young

Experience is key when handling crisis communications on behalf of a client or an organisation. At Hopkins Communications we believe in proffering the best advice available to guide and prepare clients to handle a crisis and defend their reputation.

We partner with Walter Young, head of Young Communications (Dublin) in providing strong communications solutions, ensuring that every implication and possible consequence is covered and the challenges to client reputation are addressed effectively.  

Walter was previously head of the Irish Defence Forces Media Relations, handles corporate and public relations for several high-profile organisations and private clients in Ireland and also advises the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese on a part-time basis.

Hopkins Communications also works with Walter Young in relation to media training and the provision of seminars relevant to this area.
