This is an innovative awards scheme that aims to recognise and reward excellence in GAA club communications in Cork, and to provide an incentive for clubs to improve their performance in this area.

The award will be presented bi-monthly at Silver Springs Moran Hotel, with each winning club receiving an Apple iPad courtesy of sponsors Compu b, commencing with the May/June 2012 award.

Nominations will be invited from clubs, individuals and community groups who may wish to nominate their club or division for the awards.

Announcing the scheme, County PRO Tracey Kennedy stressed the importance of effective club communications in today’s world:  “Thanks to innovations in communication, information is now instant, and the GAA must be to the forefront in this if we are to serve our members efficiently. Many of our clubs are doing excellent work in this area, and deserve recognition for it. With this in mind, we are delighted to be associated with Compu b, whose Apple products are market leaders in innovative and effective communications”.

Ger Manley, Country Manager, Compu b, welcomed the opportunity to support the initiative: “Compu b is delighted to be able to support the Cork County Board Communications Awards.  The GAA and Apple both have long and successful histories in Cork and as Ireland’s only Apple Premium Reseller, based in the heart of the city on Opera Lane, this was a natural fit for Compu b.  Our products have become increasingly popular amongst sporting bodies, administrators, players and coaches across all codes and we expect this to be the start of a long and fruitful association with Cork GAA.”

Information regarding the nomination/selection process for the Cork GAA Communications Championship will be circulated to all clubs and available on the Cork GAA website, www.gaacork.ie
