Jurys Cork Hotel renamed The River Lee Hotel
Jurys Cork Hotel will officially be renamed The River Lee Hotel today, 24th of March 2010, taking full advantage of its location by the adjacent river Lee. Part of the new brand identity being rolled out by The Doyle Collection and trading in Cork for 40 years, the hotel was rebuilt in 2006 at an estimated cost of €38m.
Commenting on the launch of the new identity, Ruairí O Connor, General Manager of The River Lee Hotel said “Operating successfully for over 40 years, Jurys Cork Hotel is a well known landmark and a popular meeting place in the region. We are situated on one of the finest stretches of The River Lee just outside our boardwalk here in Western Road, Cork. Despite challenging market conditions we have been experiencing strong and steady occupancy, and we look forward to continuing to deliver memorable luxury following our carefully planned investment in the hotel. Also, our restaurants, bars and business suites are very much in demand, particularly due to our proximity to University College Cork, The Mercy Hospital, Cork City Courthouse and the business/financial belt just minutes away. We anticipate that re-branding as The River Lee Hotel a member of The Doyle Collection, will really enhance our position as one of the finest hotels in Cork.
Acting Regional Manager with Fáilte Ireland South, Josephine O’Driscoll, commenting on the re-brand said: ‘The Doyle Collection has built up quite a reputation for itself both nationally and internationally, and has upgraded and rebranded all of its 11 properties in Ireland, the UK and the US since 2006. Its other Irish properties, The Westbury (Grafton Street, Dublin), and The Croke Park Hotel (Dublin), are recognised as quality establishments and its portfolio of UK and US hotels are proving to be popular and elegant destinations for discerning travellers. I have no doubt but that the newly re-branded River Lee Hotel will continue to draw good business into the region and uphold the standards we have come to recognise as being associated with The Doyle Collection’.
Paula Cogan, Director of Sales & Marketing at the hotel told us: ‘I’ve been involved with this hotel for several years and have seen the city transformed in that time. Our inclusion in the list of Top 5 places to visit by Lonely Planet in 2010 is a huge boost for the city. Our fantastic location, just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city and all it has to offer in terms of shopping, restaurants and pubs, ensures our clientele’s needs are met without a doubt. Being part of The Doyle Collection means we are part of an understated yet luxurious collection of hotels, where each hotel is different, yet the welcome remains genuine and warm. Furthermore, our membership of the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) the world’s largest alliance of independently owned luxury hotels positions us amongst some of the world’s most luxurious hotel brands offering our guests and Cork businesses the opportunity to avail of unique benefits in almost 300 hotels in 48 countries.
