Barry & Fitzwilliam, Ireland’s leading independent drinks distributor, headquartered at Airport Road, Cork, has been awarded the prestigious Cork Chamber of Commerce Company of the Year Award (SME Category for under 100 employees) which recognises strategic vision, innovation, performance, sales, marketing and sustainability. The awards ceremony was held at the Cork Chamber Annual Dinner, which hosts over 800 business people at City Hall each year.
Michael Barry, Managing Director at Barry & Fitzwilliam, commenting on the award, said: ‘This award means a lot to us, and in particular to our loyal staff, who have worked tirelessly with us to cement our position as a market leader in the Irish drinks distribution industry. I’ve always believed that we have a fantastic team and it is a great thrill to be recognised in your own home town, the place where it all began in 1982! With over 100 premium international brands and an expected turnover of 70M in 2011, we are always adding to our portfolio in order to enhance our reputation as a key player in the industry. Our brands include Corona Extra, Jagermeister, Tia Maria, Harveys, Cockburns, Jim Beam, Teachers, Famous Grouse, McGuigan, Hardys, Paul Masson, Michel Lynch, MontGras and several others and we are grateful to the people of Cork and our supporters all over Ireland for their contribution to our success over the years.’
Mr. Barry continued: ‘We are also happy to continue our involvement in several important sponsorships which have made an important contribution to the arts & cultural life of the city and county, notably with the Corona Cork Film Festival, the Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival in Schull, The Marketing Institute South Region, and several other good causes nationwide. It’s important for us to give something back into the community that has helped us grow and succeed.’
‘Every year I am inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit, high level of accomplishment, commitment and innovation of so many Cork companies. They deserve recognition for the contributions they make to their individual sectors, to their customers, employees and to the region. Barry & Fitzwilliam is one such outstanding contributor to business and community life, both here in Cork and nationally’ said Conor Healy, Chief Executive, Cork Chamber. http://www.bandf.ie
