Cork based travel agency, Lee Travel, has been awarded the Irish Travel Agent of the Year award at the Irish Travel Agency Excellence Awards at Dublin’s Mansion House last week, beating off stiff competition from travel agents all over Ireland. Lee Travel is 35 years in business and has two offices in Cork city (at Princes Street and Paul St. Shopping Centre), Midleton, Ballincollig and Youghal, Co. Cork.

The Awards are designed to showcase excellence in the delivery of international travel services to both leisure and business customers travelling from Ireland.
The criteria for the prestigious award, which is run by the Irish Travel Agents Association, included ‘great customer service and exceptional product knowledge, strong business performance and financial success in past 12 months, innovation and excellent branding as well as clear evidence of long term strategy’. The judges explained they had based their decision on ‘the all round excellence of operation by Lee Travel as a long established firm and also its determination to expand during a period of adversity – opening 3 new offices in 2010- despite it being one of the most challenging years for the travel industry in recent history due to both the global recession and volcanic ash disruption to air travel’.
Speaking at the Awards, Declan O’Connell, Managing Director of Lee Travel said ‘This award is a testament to the dedication of our team of highly dedicated and experienced colleague in all five offices here in Cork. They go above and beyond the call of duty in providing a world-class service to our clients and the personal touch is very evident in their approach.
