Brídhaven has won the National Gold & the National Supreme Irish Accommodation Services Awards for its excellence in the provision of quality accommodation and service for the second year running. The Irish Accommodation Services Institute, which presented the award to Brídhaven, provides a framework for organisations to maintain the highest quality care and resources for the accommodation that they provide for their residents and customers.
The purpose-built care facility for the older person was established in 1989 and has flourished since being taken over and run personally by husband and wife team Paul and MaryClare Rochford in 2004. The facility caters for a wide variety of residents both young and old and they now range in age from 39 to 100 years young! Brídhaven is not just a nursing home, professional dignified care is at the core of its operations, encompassing short, long-term and convalescent care; Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) care; specialised Dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
Speaking following the awards Brídhaven’s Paul Rochford said: “To win these national awards once is certainly something to be proud of, but to win them for a second time is a great achievement for Brídhaven. It highlights the continuous hard work of our Head of Housekeeping, Ann Lane, and all our staff who strive to provide the best accommodation, service and quality of care and comfort for our residents. The benefits to our residents are many, as they live out their lives in comfort and safety, stimulated by their surroundings and motivated by a great group of people. ”
Commenting on the Award Ms. Lane said: "At Brídhaven we work as a team. None of this could be possible without the hard work and dedication of the girls in housekeeping and our colleagues generally. Great praise is indeed due to each member of the crew, these are their Awards too.’
These awards for excellence in accommodation and service are the latest in a long list of awards and accreditations for the Mallow facility. Brídhaven currently holds the National Human Resources Standard ‘Excellence Through People’ the ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard, the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard, OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Standard, the IASI Supreme & Gold Hygiene Awards, and Mallow Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year (2010) for owner Paul Rochford for his contribution to employment and business in the Mallow area.
