Cork Community Voluntary Bingo Association (CCVBA) – seven voluntary organisations helping their communities.
In Bingo lingo seven is known as lucky seven and so it is fitting that seven voluntary organisations across Cork City and County have joined forces to today launch a new group, Cork Community Voluntary Bingo Association (CCVBA). The Group is combining their experience and resources to run fun bingo nights to a professional level, providing an affordable night out for all who attend while helping to support a range of community services throughout their native Cork.
Denis Kelly, PRO of Cork Community Voluntary Bingo Association (CCVBA) told us: “We would like to invite all bingo lovers to join us to play a book (or two) and enjoy the thrills and spills of our Bingo sessions, seven nights a week in locations around Cork City. We know people will rise to the occasion as that the valuable €10-€15 they might spend will not only buy a night out with friends but it will help fund the great work of Cork Community Voluntary Bingo Association.’
The CCVBA Bingo nights will take place at iconic Cork landmarks including Neptune Stadium, Blue Demons Basketball Club, St. Finbarrs Hurling Club, Glen Rovers Hurling Club, Parochial Hall – Gurranabraher, SMA Wilton and Ballyphehane Community Centre and proceeds generated go straight back into community initiatives. The group has already contributed to the operation of a number of community schemes and programs, including the development of a meals-on-wheels service in the Lough and Ballyphehane area, facilitation of a social outlet for retired men at Glen Rovers and the provision of health and wellbeing services in the Wilton and Bishopstown area. Their community work on the ground also includes the upkeep of various sports grounds and community assets and the provision of sports and training equipment at hurling, football and basketball clubs in the locality on a continuous basis.
The Parochial Hall Gurranabraher, SMA Wilton and Ballyphehane Community Centre are assisted in the provision of child care facilities, counselling and victim’s services, speech therapy, support for people with Alzheimer’s and alcoholism, Day Care Services for the elderly, community transport and the facilitation of an environment where people can further integrate themselves into their community.
Win a single line, a double line or maybe get a full house, hear ‘clickity click sixty six’, or win the Jackpot! A night at Bingo offers more than the opportunity to win Cork Community Voluntary Bingo Association’s astounding jackpot of up to €10,000 - it is an opportunity to come together socially and raise funds for your community.
Bingo Sessions are as follows:
· Cork SMA Wilton and Glen Rovers on Mondays,
· Neptune Stadium on Tuesdays,
· Ballyphehane Community Centre and Blue Demons Gurranabraher on Wednesdays,
· St. Finbarrs Hurling and Football Club and Ballyphehane Community Centre on Fridays,
· Glen Rovers Hurling Club on Saturdays,
· Parochial Hall Gurranabraher on Sundays.
