The new store was officially opened by Miss Cork SusanKate Brosnan and will extend the O’Briens portfolio to 32 outlets. O’Briens, which has been in operation for over 65 years, has been responsible for safeguarding over 250 indigenous jobs nationwide.

“With the increase of our new, premium international wines, beers and spirits available to the Irish marketplace and with consumers being more cost-conscious about their shopping choices, staying in has certainly become the new going out.  This has resulted in a phenomenal rise in the demand for competitive retail for wine, beer and spirits.” said Brendan O’Brien, Managing Director of O’Briens Wine Beer Spirits at the official opening of their newest store at Douglas Court Shopping Centre, Cork.

Mr. O’Brien went on to say that: “The drinks industry in Ireland has seen many fluctuations with people expecting greater choice as consumers are more educated about wine and have varied tastes and more importantly budgets. We wanted to offer value, choice, good customer service and share our expertise with the people of Cork who are well-known for their great knowledge and taste of fine food and wine.  It was with this in mind that we, at O’Briens Wines, decided to extend our portfolio of businesses and open up our 32nd store in Douglas Court Shopping Centre.”

The new store, which is set on 2,000 Sq feet in Douglas Court Shopping Centre, will benefit from a contemporary, innovative fit-out design which promises to deliver an interactive and exciting shopping experience and consumers are encouraged to browse, taste with or test O’Briens’ knowledgeable staff and benefit from the useful information points provided on the wide range of wines.

To celebrate the opening there will be over 50 Wines on promotion, some with discounts of up to 50%, including a mix of exclusive O’Briens favourites and some big name brands.
